The startup repath from the University of Hamburg uses findings from climate science to enable companies to identify their risks from climate change at an early stage. Startup Port has supported the company’s business development. The company recently secured 3.6 million euros from Greencode Ventures and Lightbird.
A visionary team against climate change
Founded at the University of Hamburg, the startup repath is based on the findings of Dr Thomas Remke and Julius Pröll from their time at the Climate Service Center Germany (GERICS). They recognised the challenge: climate data is often difficult to access and companies are struggling to adapt to the growing impact of climate change. Together with Sebastian Bartels and Liza Altena, who are characterised by a shared vision and objectives, they founded repath. Their goal: to create a scientifically sound, automated software solution that enables companies to actively tackle the challenges of climate change while having a positive impact on our planet.
Innovative solutions for complex climate risks
repath offers an advanced platform that enables companies to strengthen their resilience to climate risks. ‘Climate risks are complex,’ explains the team. ‘Our many years of experience in climate research have taught us that. With our impact and purpose-driven team in Hamburg and around the world, we are committed to making climate data manageable for companies.’
Support from the Startup Port
The Startup Port played a key role in the development of repath by supporting the startup in various phases of the company’s development, including the successful application for the EXIST start-up grant. Known at the time as beyourpilot and now as Startup Port, the joint project between Hamburg’s universities and research institutions has proven to be a strong partner. ‘We were welcomed with open arms by the University of Hamburg, the start-up service and beyourpilot with our start-up idea and feel very much at home here,’ Julius reported in our Startup Story.
Outlook
The recently received funding of 3.6 million euros, led by Greencode Ventures and Lightbird, will enable repath to further develop its technologies and strengthen its market position. The investment in repath underlines the enormous potential of ClimateTech startups to offer effective solutions to one of the most pressing problems of our time. With a strong team, innovative technology and the support of major investors, repath is well on its way to making a lasting impact on the climate resilience of companies worldwide.
