With a groundbreaking development, the start-up COLIPI offers a sustainable alternative to palm oil that is climate-neutral and environmentally friendly. Supported by Startup Port and renowned investors, the young company won the Gründerszene Awards 2024.
The innovative power of the start-up world was celebrated at a glamorous evening at Axel Springer Verlag in Berlin. Founders, investors and influencers from the scene came together in the exclusive ‘Journalists’ Club’ to honour outstanding achievements and the courage of the companies. There were five categories in total: Climate Tech, Consumer Goods & Commerce, Deep Tech & AI, Health Tech and Newcomer.
COLIPI – A newcomer sets new standards
COLIPI stood out in particular among the start-ups honoured at this year’s Gründerszene Awards. The company, founded at Hamburg University of Technology, developed ‘Climate Oil’, an innovative, climate-neutral alternative to palm oil. The urgently needed solution to an environmentally harmful problem received the award in the ‘Newcomer’ category.
Support from Startup Port
COLIPI’s success is also a testament to the effective support provided by the Startup Port @TUHH. From the very beginning, the project was financially supported by the EXIST research transfer programme and the InnoRampUp programme of IFB Innovationsstarter GmbH. In addition, COLIPI benefited from comprehensive mentoring, which gave the founders access to valuable resources and a broad industry network.
The need for a sustainable alternative
Palm oil can be found in countless everyday products – from food to cosmetics. However, its production is harmful to the environment, contributes to global warming and jeopardises biodiversity. COLIPI addresses these problems with a sustainable solution that has the potential to revolutionise the industry and make a real difference.
Outlook and impact
Being recognised by the Gründerszene Awards highlights COLIPI’s great potential not only in the field of environmental protection, but also as a role model for future generations of start-ups that focus on sustainability and social impact. With the support of visionary networks such as Startup Port, COLIPI is at the beginning of a promising development that could permanently change the way we think about resource utilisation and industrial innovation.
Conclusion
At a time when sustainable solutions are more urgently needed than ever, COLIPI shows that with innovative ideas and the right support, real change is possible. The Gründerszene Award is just the beginning for a start-up that could change the world for the better.
