As part of our expertise series, we introduce the experts on our platform: Nabil el Berr uses a combination of legal acumen and entrepreneurial experience to provide legal support for innovative business ideas.
Nabil el Berr is more than just a lawyer: he not only wants to provide legal advice to start-ups, but also to shape and support them with his own start-up experience. “I know from my own experience what it means to found and run a company,” says the lawyer. This perspective makes him a valuable partner for young companies that need to find their way in the complex world of corporate financing and start-ups. That’s why Nabil also makes his expertise available: “Startup Port offers a platform where I can pass on my knowledge and experience to help young companies get off to a good start,” he explains.
Expertise that counts
Nabil el Berr has been with PwC Legal since 2023 and contributes his extensive expertise in the field of innovative and sustainable corporate financing. His focus is on national and international companies, investment companies and energy suppliers. His focus is not only on legal protection, but also on understanding and advancing his clients’ business models.
From Münster via Cologne to Hamburg
Nabil studied law in Münster and founded his first start-up called werdetnachbarn.de in Cologne. This platform serves as a contact point for building cooperatives and later developed the business model into a digital project management organisation for building cooperatives. “Until now, building cooperatives have been relatively fragmented in Germany and didn’t really have a real point of contact. That’s why we founded this platform,” explains Nabil. He is now focussing on advocacy. He now brings his experience from his time as a founder to Startup Port to pave the way for other founders.
Human and motivating
The lawyer has a personal approach to consulting: he sees himself not just as an advisor, but as part of the team that works on the success of every start-up project. “It’s exciting to be part of the development of new business models and to see how ideas become real companies,” enthuses Nabil.
Strategic recommendations for start-ups
One of his key messages to founders is: “Think carefully about which legal form you choose and how you set up your company structure. These decisions are essential and should be made early on to minimise future challenges.” He gives start-ups this and other advice to prepare them for the challenges ahead.
Long-term support for sustainable success
Nabil el Berr is not only involved during the start-up phase, but also offers long-term support to ensure the sustainable success of the start-ups he supports. “I always look forward to the dialogue and to developing solutions together with the founders that really make a difference,” says el Berr.
An indispensable partner in the start-up ecosystem
The combination of legal expertise and entrepreneurial experience makes Nabil el Berr an indispensable partner for start-ups in Hamburg and beyond. His passion and commitment are an asset to any start-up that is aiming for sustainable success. The legal expert sees great potential in the further networking and promotion of start-ups and would like to contribute to further strengthening and developing the ecosystem.
