Major success for amsight: the specialist for data-based quality management in industrial 3D printing production has gained Butterfly & Elephant Beteiligungsgesellschaft (GS1 Germany) as a strategic partner. The investment, which amsight GmbH raised as part of a pre-seed II financing round, strengthens the startup’s position as a technological enabler for quality-assured 3D printing production. The aim is to jointly advance the traceability of additively manufactured components and the exchange of digital product and process data in accordance with GS1 standards – which is particularly attractive for highly regulated industries such as medical technology, defense and aerospace.
An important goal of the partnership is to jointly develop solutions that make quality-critical parameters transparent throughout the entire process, document them and guarantee a secure exchange.
The fresh capital will be used to accelerate product development and the expansion of the software platform in the area of data standardization and compliance and to drive forward the focused market entry into regulated industries.
Tim Wischeropp, CEO of amsight: “With Butterfly & Elephant, we are pleased to have gained an investor who not only brings capital, but above all strategic expertise in the field of standardization, as well as component identification and marking. Together, we will take the exchange of digital production data and traceability in industrial 3D printing to a new level.”
As an investor in business models that combine technological innovation and standardization in the identification, recording and exchange of product data, Butterfly & Elephant expects its involvement to actively contribute to a forward-looking solution for value chains.
“amsight addresses a central lever of industrial additive manufacturing: Transparency and trust through data. We see enormous potential in jointly setting GS1’s standards for digital process quality in regulated markets,” says Benjamin Birker, Managing Director of Butterfly & Elephant, expressing their ambition.
In its founding phase, amsight was supported by the CREW Hamburg in the Startup Port @TUHH a program of the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) start-up center that supports innovative start-ups on their way to market maturity.
