With its innovative software for data management in 3D printing, the startup amsight won the prestigious Digital Innovations start-up competition organised by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK) and secured important contacts and extensive coaching in addition to the prize money. Startup Port supported the founders in their business development.
amsight GmbH is a Fraunhofer IAPT spin-off with the aim of developing the best software for data management, analysis and quality assurance in additive manufacturing. The four-member founding team has more than 20 years of experience in industrial 3D printing and more than 13 years of experience in professional software development.
Success in the Digital Innovations start-up competition
This week, amsight came out on top against strong competition in the “Digital Innovations Start-up Competition” organised by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK). The company was recognised for its innovative, data-driven software solution, which offers a complete digital twin of the entire AM process chain. This technology enables holistic optimisation of processes in terms of costs, quality and resource efficiency – an innovation that was previously not possible in this form. amsight received prize money of €7,000 and an additional coaching budget.
Attending the award ceremony in Berlin was not only an opportunity for the amsight team to celebrate their own success, but also a valuable networking event. The event offered speed dating sessions with potential investors and was a platform for making contacts and gaining insights into new trends.
Support from Startup Port
Startup Port played a crucial role in the initial phase of amsight. The startup was officially founded in August 2023. The challenges along the way were manifold, from overcoming bureaucratic hurdles to adapting the software to different data formats and infrastructures in the companies. In addition to support in applying for EXIST funding, Startup Port helped the team with strategic business development, the acquisition of important pilot customers and the establishment of a sustainable network. These initial successes are indicative of the strategic and practical support that Startup Port offers founders.
