Under the motto "Inspire. Empower. Connect." we are organising this year’s Female Entrepreneurship Week. Together with the GründungsService of the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW Hamburg) and the Startup Port joint project, we will be celebrating the action week from 14 to 19 November 2022.
Women interested in founding a company and founders are the special focus of the Female Entrepreneurship Week for one week. The series of events offers a colourful programme of inspiration, content, training, role models and many opportunities for exchange and networking. In order to attract and inspire more women to the start-up world, we will provide you with helpful knowledge and exciting formats over six days:
Inspire – Play through the day of a female entrepreneur in an Escape Game or experience start-up stories in a more sporting way.
Empower – Daily, bite-sized morsels of knowledge from a female entrepreneur, an extra portion of self-confidence or good arguments against sexist remarks in your luggage.
Connect – Find people with ideas or skills for your own idea at the matchmaking event or network with like-minded people at WEEK UP!
The theme week begins on 14 November 2022 with the networking event “Female Entrepreneurship WEEK UP!” at HAW Hamburg’s Media Campus Finkenau. It ends on 19 November 2022 with the international Women’s Entrepreneurship Day (WED), which aims to strengthen the visibility and work of female entrepreneurs globally. On Women’s Entrepreneurship Day, the work of women entrepreneurs is looked at, discussed and celebrated. The launch took place on 19 November 2014 in New York City at the United Nations, with other events held simultaneously in several other countries. WED was initiated by Wendy Diamond, founder of Animal Fair Media and pioneer of the American pet industry. She was inspired in Honduras, where she had volunteered for the Adelante Foundation, which provides microloans to low-income women. Upon her return to the US, Wendy Diamond decided to develop something to support this and similar philanthropic causes. In total, WED was recognised by 144 nations last year. The organisation behind WED also offers an ambassadorship and scholarship programme.
