The Startup Port start-up camp was once again held in Harburg over an entire weekend from September 5 to 7. On the premises of the Startup Port@TUHH, 14 committed participants worked intensively on 13 start-up ideas, accompanied by experts from science and practice.
Workshops, mentoring, pitches
In a mixture of workshops, mentoring sessions and pitch formats, the ideas were critically examined, sharpened and prepared for the next steps. The focus was on topics such as business model development, financing and funding, prototyping and pitch training.
The intensive exchange within the group and with the mentors was particularly valuable for many participants. “I learned a lot and took a lot away with me for my start-up journey,” was how one participant summed it up.
Learning from established start-ups
A highlight of the three days was the visit from Julian Craemer, founder of the start-up uptain, and Sharon Nisha Thiruvarul Durai, founder of Ploviti. Both spoke very openly about their personal start-up journey and shared with the participants interested in founding a company how they overcame initial hurdles, dealt with setbacks and achieved their goals.
With new impetus, important contacts and developed concepts, the budding entrepreneurs are now taking the next steps on their start-up journey.
The start-up camp from Startup Port
The start-up camp has been organized by Tempowerk, Tutech, Hamburg Innovation and Leuphana University Lüneburg for several years and has established itself as a permanent institution in the northern German start-up ecosystem. It offers those interested in founding a company an ideal opportunity to further develop their ideas in a professional environment, receive valuable feedback and network with like-minded people.
The organizers are:
Hamburg Innovation GmbH is a privately organized knowledge and technology transfer institution of the public universities in Hamburg. The team is active at the interface between universities, companies and the public sector with the aim of profitably networking entrepreneurial and scientific potential and creating sustainable value for science, politics, business and society.
Tutech Innovation GmbH is the subsidiary of the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) for knowledge and technology transfer. Tutech has been successfully connecting science, business and society for over 30 years and offers professional support in the areas of research management, IP management, start-up support, consulting and skills development. In addition to the TUHH, its customers include other universities and research institutions, particularly from Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein, as well as companies and clients from Germany, Europe and all over the world.
Tempowerk is a campus and forum for small and medium-sized technology-oriented companies. Founders are supported here with subsidized rental space and actively accompanied during the first few years. By bridging the gap between science and practice with the resident companies, there is an ideas factory in whose network concepts are developed and put into practice.
The Leuphana University of Lüneburg is regarded as one of Germany’s leading start-up universities and is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE). The start-up-related activities initiated by the Chair of Start-up Management actively contribute to stimulating, qualifying, supporting and advising university start-ups. The start-up-related curriculum has received several awards for its quality in recent years.
