The description
- In interdisciplinary and cross-university small groups, you will work independently in intensive work phases between the block courses on a real case study (case) of the cooperating startup.
- Together, challenges are overcome, solutions are found and practical experience is gained that is part of everyday startup life.
- In addition, you will gain exclusive insights into the everyday life of startup founders, get inspiration from experts, exchange ideas with other people interested in founding a company and perhaps even find competent and likeable co-founders to turn your own idea into reality.
Case
In this round, the startup SURFACtoBioTech will present a current case.
SURFACtoBioTech works on innovative solutions for biotechnology
- The startup develops and supplies surfactants and technologies for droplet-based microfluidics, which can be used to conduct biotechnological experiments on a micro scale.
- This allows valuable reagents and samples to be used more efficiently, experiments to be accelerated and made more sustainable – making research results faster, more accurate and more resource-efficient.
- Its focus is on the optimization of laboratory processes, the provision of tailor-made chemical solutions and the integration of new technologies into existing laboratories.
The workshop format takes place as a cooperation event between the Center for Entrepreneurship at Kiel University and the Startup Port.

Target group
Students, scientists, people interested in founding a company from all faculties
Language
The course will be held in German and English. All course content will be taught in German, the presentation of the case and the final presentations will be held in English. A good understanding of German and a good command of English are therefore necessary in order to gain as much knowledge as possible and to be able to actively participate.

Note:
With full participation in the program, students from universities in the Hamburg metropolitan region can earn 4 credit points and a certificate. The creditability of the points must be clarified individually and independently with the study administration of the respective university.
For students of the University of Hamburg, recognition is automatic when registering via Stine.
The course has also been recognized by students at the FH Wedel, HAW and TUHH in recent years. We are currently working on binding solutions for the coming semesters.
Participants at Kiel University receive a total of 5 credit points after completing an additional task, based on the requirements of the examination regulations there.
