Background

Startup Migrants is a Norwegian-German startup that has set itself the goal of creating an inclusive Europe-wide startup culture.

Many migrants interested in starting a business lack the knowledge of local structures, networks, and cultures needed to get off to the best possible start in other countries. As a result, a great deal of talent goes untapped. This is where the Startups Migrants concept comes in. At the Startup Preschool—a three-day intensive course in entrepreneurship, networking, and business management—multicultural founders are empowered and connected to the local startup ecosystem.

In this way, the Startup Preschool contributes to a diverse startup culture in several ways. Indeed, the Preschool programs conducted to date show that women, in particular, among those with an immigrant background who are interested in starting a business benefit from the program: They account for over 50 percent of participants and can be significantly encouraged and supported in their entrepreneurial aspirations.

The Preschool operates in Scandinavia and Germany; since the first Preschool, more than 400 people have applied to participate, and more than 40 companies have been founded by alumni of the Startup Preschool.

Startup Preschool Lüneburg is held in cooperation with Startup Niedersachsen and Utopia.
