That’s what it’s all about

Grid operators and companies are increasingly relying on AI-based solutions to solve the major challenges in the energy sector. In this joint event with the SET Hub of dena (Deutsche Energie-Agentur GmbH), we want to shed light on the topics and future-oriented opportunities for start-ups in this development.

Agenda

This interesting agenda awaits you:

12:00 – Arrival and small welcome lunch
13:00 – Welcome and introduction
  • Rolli Vogel, Team Leader Start-up Ecosystem, dena
  • Christine Tiedemann, Network Manager, Startup Port
  • Stefan Stengel, Program Manager, Gateway49
13:20 – Block I
  • In a keynote speech, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christian Becker, Head of the Institute for Electrical Power Engineering at TU Hamburg, will explain how AI can make power grids more resilient and why AI enables new business models for start-ups, particularly in this field.
  • In his article, Nils Fiege, responsible for innovation at Hamburger Energienetze, highlights the need for innovative start-ups and AI-based solutions in energy grids and the opportunities this presents for collaboration. The extensive information and data basis of a grid operator not only opens up exciting insights, but also places high demands. This is precisely where the key challenges – and at the same time enormous opportunities – lie for the success of the energy transition.
14:30 – Coffee Break
14:50 – Block II: How innovation networks with startups offer the greatest added value
  • With two experts, we shed light on how innovation networks with start-ups offer the greatest added value and how cooperation with municipal utilities can succeed. The “AI Power Match” project will be presented.
  • Panel discussion with several experts on the topic, moderated by Sophia Rödiger, CMO, 1KOMMA5°
15:55 – Coffee Break
16:25 – Block III: Startup pitches and world café

We offer solutions: Startup pitches from 3-4 solution providers

  • Pitches from start-ups, whose challenges can then be discussed by the participants.
  • Moderation: Christine Tiedemann, Startup Port
  • World Cafe: Commenting on the challenges
17:40 – Wrap-up and get-together
  • Wrap-up: Highlight from the tables
  • Get-together: Conclusion with drinks and snacks
19:00 – End

Information about our experts

(further experts tba)

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christian Becker
Christian Becker has headed the Institute of Electrical Power Engineering at TU Hamburg since 2015. His motivation: making power grids fit for a future with renewable energies, digitalization and new forms of mobility. Together with his team, he researches how grids can remain stable when wind, sun and modern power electronics determine what happens – and how sector coupling and intelligent on-board networks open up new opportunities, including for aircraft and ships.

Previously, he developed energy technology on-board systems at AIRBUS. His aim is to combine research and practice more closely in order to make innovation usable more quickly.

Nils Fiege

Nils Fiege has been working in corporate development at Stromnetz Hamburg since 2021. He is currently building up the Innovation department at Hamburger Energienetzen. He sees the open innovation approach as a central building block for jointly developing new solutions for the energy transition.

After studying mechanical engineering and business consulting in Kiel and Wismar, he initially gained professional experience in international mechanical and plant engineering as well as in start-ups – with a particular focus on research & development and the development of new business models.
