Hamburg-based start-up 3D Spark<\/a> can celebrate a major success: Deutsche Bahn has approved the young company’s CO2 reporting tool for the production of on-demand spare parts. The solution enables a precise, automated calculation of the CO2 footprint per component – broken down by material, manufacturing process and post-processing. This enables the railroad to make reliable decisions to reduce its environmental impact and at the same time make production processes more efficient. <\/p>

Fruitful cross-university support<\/h4>

The three founders of 3D Spark, Fritz Lange<\/a>, Ruben Meuth<\/a> and Arnd Struve<\/a>, originally come from Helmut Schmidt University – University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg<\/a> (HSU), where they started out with their start-up idea. Even at this early stage, they received support from Felix Krieg<\/g>, an experienced start-up consultant at the Startup Port @TUHH<\/g>. The cross-university collaboration between HSU and Hamburg University of Technology<\/a> (TUHH) once again underlines how the strong network of the Startup Port association<\/strong> can productively promote innovative ideas from science and strengthen the exchange between universities and institutions. <\/p><\/div>

Successful transfer from science to industry<\/h4>

The integration of 3D Spark’s CO\u2082 reporting tool into Deutsche Bahn’s production processes is also an example of the successful implementation of sustainable technologies in industry. It shows how start-ups can develop innovative solutions that have a positive impact on the environment and the economy through targeted support and cooperation with universities and consulting networks. <\/p>
