With its new startup and scaleup strategy, the federal government aims to strengthen Germany’s position as a leading hub for innovation in Europe and create better conditions for starting, growing, and scaling businesses. In total, the strategy comprises 152 measures across eight areas of action—ranging from financing and reducing red tape to skilled workers, internationalization, and networking.
One focus here is on translating research into commercial applications: Through the expansion of the Startup Factories—which include the Impossible Founders (iF)—a close partner of Startup Port—are part of the Startup Factories, along with increased support for science-based spin-offs, improved conditions for IP transfer, and new real-world labs, the goal is to accelerate the journey from an idea originating at a university or research institution to a successful startup.
The strategy thus picks up exactly where universities, research institutions, and their startup networks are working to put innovations into practice.
This is an important sign for Startup Port, as many of the announced measures strengthen the framework for science-based startups and the transfer of research into successful companies—and thus also enhance the environment and offerings at Startup Port.
A summary of the strategy’s key points can be found in the article by Startup City Hamburg.
